Elementos Temáticos - Elementos de Lección
This page will house a compendium of links to sites with content-specific lesson plans or potential parts of lessons that can be incorporated into the Spanish educator's own lessons. While the focus here is primarily on items of use to the Spanish teacher, there will be some items that would be useful to any FL educator.
While the organization of this page will undoubtedly change over time, the resources are organized for now into two groups: Geography (Country-specific content) and General Language (Grammar, vocabulary, and language-specific content).

Geography
In this category, one will find lesson elements that are specific to a country (including geography, art, music, literature, and/or general culture). While some of these elements may logically spread into the area of General Language, I will endeavor to be consistent in my categorization!

Native Speakers - Audio Samples
University of Texas - Proficiency Exercises http://www.laits.utexas.edu/spe/siteindex.php |
This is my go-to site for listening samples of native speakers. The samples are indexed by the origin of the native speaker, as well as by ACTFL proficiency level (novice, intermediate, etc.). They cover a wide variety of content in authentic conversational situations. The videos can be embedded into websites, and also have (optional) transcripts in both English and Spanish. This is a great resource.

Foreign Language News and Newspapers (Spanish)
http://libguides.mit.edu/content.php?pid=146063&sid=1247903 |
This site gathers online news, indexes by language, and arranges by country of origin. Spanish students studying a particular country can find authentic news in local dialect here.

General Language
In this category, one will find lesson elements that are language-specific (including grammar, spelling, vocabulary, etc.) While it may be the case that in some instances (say, the study of lexical variation) some of these elements may be better suited to the category of Geography, I shall again endeavor to be consistent!

Zachary Jones is an acclaimed Spanish educator, and his website is full of useful and engaging activities for all ages and abilities.

Vocabulary and Phrases
Word Reference http://www.wordreference.com/ |
This resource is also listed in with the student resources as a very reliable dictionary; and it is that, too. However, one of the best features of this site is the discussion forum in which native speakers the world over discuss English-Spanish and Spanish-English translations. Need to know how an idiom might translate into a particular culture/area? Want to help a colleague with a tricky bit of translation? This is your place.
